Embraer has introduced the new Praetor 500, described as “the world’s most disruptive and technologically advanced midsize business jet.”

The aircraft, the fastest in its class, is a transcontinental jet that can fly from Miami to Seattle, San Francisco to Gander, Singapore to Beijing or Dubai to Bangkok non-stop. It can also fly the west coast of the US to Europe, with just one stop.

The Praetor 500 represent the Brazilian aerospace giant’s newest midsize private-jet.

“The Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 are the disruptive aircraft for the entrepreneur, for the pioneer, for the innovator,” said Michael Amalfitano, President & CEO, Embraer Executive Jets. “The Praetors are aircraft certainly in keeping with their name, leading the way in redefining the characteristics of what a midsize and super-midsize aircraft deliver to the market. The introduction of these aircraft supports our vision of fascinating our customers and providing them with superior value and the best experience in the industry.”

The aircraft is based on the existing Legacy 450 and is capable of going 3,740 miles. Embraer’s vice president for interior design, Jay Beever, said that the decision to abandon the Legacy name was made to distinguish the company’s business jets, such as the Legacy 450 and 500 and the Praetor 500 and 600, from its commercial models like the Legacy 650.

The aircraft, which is named after the title given to high-level government magistrates in ancient Rome, is intended to suggest that the jet is the owner’s ultimate servant, Beever said.

For the new aircraft, Beever and his team designed a custom interior option called the Bossa Nova that’s inspired by the beauty of Brazil’s beaches. The Praetor 500 is powered by a pair of Honeywell HTF 7500E turbofan engines.

“Inspired by our Brazilian heritage, the Bossa Nova interior will delight Praetor customers with its distinctively elegant ambiance,” said Beever. “With personal comfort as the key design driver, the Embraer DNA Design will render an unparalleled passenger experience in the Praetor jets. Upon the foundation of ergonomics and superior craftsmanship, each customer’s personal design style will be reflected throughout the cabin.”

The aircraft will seat seven to nine passengers and features retractable tables made of carbon fiber. Other highlights include the Honeywell Ovation cabin management devices as well as GoGo and Ka-band for high-speed Internet access, which gives passengers access to Internet entertainment content. There is also an optional in-flight entertainment system with screens, surround sound and several input options.

The aircraft has a six-foot-tall, flat-floor cabin, four club seats that can all lie flat to form two berths, a bar area up front, in-flight accessible baggage, and a rear lavatory.

The base price for the Embraer Praetor 500 is $16,995,000 and the Bossa Nova interior costs an additional $750,000.
