Super Bowl LIII Impacts Atlanta Air Traffic

Flex Air Charters Events, Special Events

Law enforcement partners and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been planning for Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta for months. A comprehensive plan has been developed to ensure safety and minimize delays.

Restrictions

Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) will be in place for both general aviation and drone pilots. There will also be other, more strict, requirements for pilots who want to fly into the Atlanta area in the days around the Super Bowl. The airspace for up to one mile around the Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be a No Drone Zone on game day. Pilots and operators who enter the TFRs without permission could face civil penalties that exceed $20,000 and potential criminal prosecution. More than 1,100 additional aircraft are expected to fly in and out of the metro Atlanta area in three days for Super Bowl LIII. Any general aviation pilots who want to fly around Atlanta between January 29 and February 5 should check out the FAA’s updates for information about the reservation system that will be in place for pilots who want to fly into and out of local airports.
