Private Air Charters - Flex Air Charters

Aircraft Leasing Programs

When we speak to clients who often utilize our charter service, we like to present them with the option for aircraft leasing. Not only can this assist in making continuous flights more convenient by presenting an aircraft that is always available, but it also can help those who currently own an aircraft and need to mitigate the payments associated with the upkeep of aircraft ownership. By leasing your private jet or another aircraft for charter use, you are in essence freeing up time that your aircraft could be in use for by others and saving yourself money. We offer short and long-term lease options, giving you the ability to choose when you want to reserve the aircraft for your personal use and when you want to allow time for it to be utilized by other sources.

Optimize Your Investment

You will have the option of leasing your aircraft temporarily, from 3 months to over yearlong increments of time. You also are freed from the full scope of financial risks associated with owning an aircraft. Lessors have the luxury of walking away at the end of the lease, without the depreciation hit owners face when they sell; they also generally have the freedom to renew their contracts, with a new private jet. Our aircraft leasing team offers a wide scope of options for customers looking for ACMI (aircraft, crew maintenance and insurance), wet lease, or dry lease solutions.

From testing out a new aircraft temporarily before purchasing to having a backup in the event that your flight operations or flight business program is at risk of disruption, aircraft leasing is a tremendous tool in many cases. By participating in aircraft leasing, you never run the risk of being grounded and having to spend time finding another aircraft, you will always have one on hand for your situation. Flex Air Charters also provides aircraft leasing to those in need of additional capacity during periods of high traffic as well as for airline startups and airlines in need of aircraft to fly new routes. The options are endless!

ACMI Aircraft Leasing

ACMI solutions are ideal for startup airlines, new route studies, seasonal or sudden demand peaks. Typically these aircraft leasing arrangements are exclusively used between two airlines whereby one airline (the lessor) provides an Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) to another airline (the lessee), which then pays for the hours operated. The lessee provides fuel and covers airport and overflight charges, and any other duties, taxes, etc.

Flex Air Charters provides full ‘turn-key’ solutions for both parties during an ACMI leasing agreement ensuring that we will deliver a tailor-made solution to suit your needs. Together with extensive independent relationships with our leading global airline operator network, coupled with our vast airline database and aircraft sourcing abilities we are able to offer immediate and cost effective ACMI solutions for your airline fleet expansion targets worldwide. Starting with your initial inquiry, the team provides you with a careful assessment of the route, position and choice of aircraft, the sourcing of the aircraft and work through the operational requirements and onto contract negotiation, signing and execution.

Wet Aircraft Leases

A wet lease is a leasing arrangement that does not involve transference of possession of the aircraft. One Airline or aircraft operator, (the lessor), provides an aircraft, complete crew/only cockpit crew, maintenance, and insurance (Hull and third party liability), to an airline [or other type of business acting as a broker of air travel] (the lessee), which pays by hours operated. Fuel, airport fees, taxes and any other duties are provided by the lessee as well as the retention of the flight number provided by the lessee during the flight.

Generally, wet leases last one month to two years. Leases less than that time frame are considered ad-hoc charters. Wet leases are typically used to initiate new routes, during annual maintenance or during peak traffic seasons. Wet Lease Aircraft also fulfill the interim needs created by long-term fleet expansion plans whilst maximizing market share in the immediate term.

**In order to be in compliance with FAR Part 135, the owner of the aircraft may not lease to a charter operator as they must remain in complete operational control of the aircraft.**

Dry Aircraft Leases

A dry lease is a leasing arrangement where an aircraft financing entity, such as the lessor, leases just the aircraft to a lessee or certified charter operator with no extras. This transaction excludes the provision of crew, ground staff, supporting equipment, maintenance program or insurance plan. Dry Aircraft Leases are typically used by leasing companies and banks, the lessee has to acquire an Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and provide registration for the Aircraft. The owner, in essence, transfers the possession (but not the legal title) of the aircraft to the lessees and he or she no longer has any operational control over the aircraft during any and all charter flights.

When leasing to a charter operator, it becomes the sole responsibility of the certified charter operator to ensure that every charter flight is conducted in strict accordance with FAR Part 135 regulations. A typical dry lease starts from two years onward and bears certain conditions with respect to depreciation, maintenance, insurances, etc., depending also on the geographical location, political circumstances, etc.

**Under A008, the aircraft owner must dry lease his or her aircraft to a certified charter operator.**
