The aviation industry marked a historic milestone with delivery of the first ultra long range G800, a business jet designed to push boundaries of speed, distance, and comfort. Delivery followed certification from both the FAA and EASA in April 2025, confirming Gulfstream’s commitment to redefining intercontinental private travel.
Certification and Entry Into Service

The G800 secured type certification on April 16, 2025, from the FAA and EASA, clearing the way for customer deliveries. The first aircraft was completed at Gulfstream’s Appleton, Wisconsin facility and delivered in late August 2025 . This rapid transition from approval to delivery highlighted Gulfstream’s strong program maturity, a hallmark of its development strategy.
Unmatched Performance
The G800 establishes itself as the longest range business jet available. It offers 8,200 nautical miles at Mach 0.85, 8,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.87, and 7,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.90. Gulfstream also increased the maximum operating speed to Mach 0.935, reinforcing the G800’s reputation as a true global connector.
Cabin Comfort and Innovation

The G800 provides passengers with the industry’s lowest cabin altitude, just 2,840 feet at a cruising altitude of 41,000 feet. This design reduces fatigue on long flights while providing 100 percent fresh air, a plasma ionization purification system, and 16 large oval windows that fill the cabin with natural light. Interior layouts can be customized with up to four living areas or three living areas with a dedicated crew compartment, creating maximum flexibility for long range operations.
Program Maturity and Market Demand
Gulfstream emphasized that the G800 entered service with high program maturity, a level of readiness that minimizes disruptions for customers. Demand for the G800 has been strong, particularly among operators upgrading from the G650, which saw its production end earlier in 2025. The aircraft’s capabilities are especially appealing for nonstop routes such as New York to Hong Kong or Miami to Cape Town.
Positioning Against Competitors
With an estimated price between $73 million and $82 million depending on configuration, the G800 directly challenges the Bombardier Global 7500 and forthcoming Global 8000. Gulfstream’s strategy to combine range, speed, and cabin innovations positions the G800 as a dominant force in the ultra long range category.
Strategic Role for Gulfstream

The introduction of the G800 strengthens Gulfstream’s next generation lineup, joining the G700 and reinforcing the brand’s legacy of innovation in private aviation. By phasing out the G650 and moving forward with the G800, Gulfstream demonstrates its intent to maintain leadership in long haul business travel for decades to come.
A Defining Achievement
The first ultra long range G800 delivery represents more than just the introduction of a new business jet. It is the culmination of years of engineering, testing, and innovation, and it sets a new standard for private aviation. With record breaking range, advanced cabin comfort, and program maturity, the G800 embodies Gulfstream’s vision of connecting the world with unmatched performance and luxury.
