An unusual and alarming airport security breach unfolded on December 12, 2020, at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, leaving passengers stunned as a man climbed onto the wing of a taxiing aircraft. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Alejandro Carlson, spent nearly 45 minutes pacing, sitting, and clinging to the aircraft before falling to the tarmac.
The bizarre incident caught the attention of both passengers and crew. Erin Evans, a passenger onboard, recounted the surreal experience. “Some people thought it was a terror threat, others were just in shock. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen,” she said. Evans recorded a video of Carlson on the wing, which quickly spread across social media, raising questions about airport safety.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Carlson bypassed secure airport boundaries by jumping the perimeter fence. Once he reached the aircraft, which was taxiing for departure, the pilot noticed him running toward the plane and immediately alerted air traffic control. Despite the quick response, Carlson managed to reach the aircraft before authorities could intervene.
Air marshals onboard the plane were quick to reassure passengers, advising them to stay calm and remain seated while airport security worked to remove the man.
